Stephen Bornstein
CEO
Stephen brings 13 years of engineering and military experience to Athena AI, with prior positions at Airbus, Rocket Lab and BAE Systems on new development programs as a design engineer. Stephen is also a commissioned Army reserves officer within the Royal Australian Infantry Corps.

Tom Nash
Vision Lead
Co-founding Member
Tom leads the vision product including integration of all computer vision products with TAK, 3rd party C2 solutions, and decision support capabilities. Tom is the former Australian Defence Industry Graduate of the Year, having worked across the full software stack of embedded systems, user Interface design and server based applications.
Cameron Fox
Head of Operations
Cameron leads project operations at Athena AI. Cameron has a degree in mechatronics engineering, with prior positions as an Operations manager for a robotics company and as a design and test engineer in construction automation, as well as having run his own small business.
Matt Lakis
Simulation & Geospatial Lead
Matt leads the Geospatial product development as well as the synthetic AI capabilities at Athena AI. Matt’s prior experience includes having worked in automation, robotics and photogrammetry applications for a number of companies consulting to Tier 1 mining.
Rahul Kota
AI Lead
Rahul leads the team of Machine Learning Operations, Data Scientists and Dataset generation team. Prior to joining Athena, Rahul worked as an AI researcher at University of Queensland, focusing on topics including facial recognition and Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) for MRIs.
Steve Nichols
Product Manager
Steve is the Athena AI Product Manager and brings 22 years military experience as an Officer in the Australian Defence Force and 13 years in defence industry based in the Middle East. Steve’s military career was focused on Joint Fires, Air Land Integration and Joint and Multi Domain Operations. Steve brings an operational focus to provide a link between Athena AI’s technical excellence and the operational requirements of our clients.
Daniel Hudson
Solutions Architect
Co-founding Member
Dan leads high level technical integration at Athena AI focused primarily on standard and bespoke customer solutions. Dan brings 8 years of experience in robotics design, testing and integration having held positions at Mining3 CRC and Cyborg Dynamics Engineering.
Simon Zyrianov
Principal Data Scientist
Simon is the lead AI researcher at Athena focused on applying state of the art models and algorithms into the development pipeline. Simon has 13 years of experience in data science having worked as an economist and in logistics optimisation using machine learning before focusing on deep learning.
